CAMP SAFETY

We take safety very seriously at our surf camps. Lifeguards monitor the beaches where we surf each day. We encourage students to wear bright rash guards, visible and identifiable with the group. All beginners will use high-quality, soft boards and surf in shallow water. Our instructors have taught many students.

FOR QUESTIONS OR MORE INFORMATION

Contact Angie at angie@vineyardln.com with “ATTENTION ANGIE – CAMPER TRAVEL” in the subject line.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Our family campers will be staying in tents or RVs on the upper deck lawn, with beautiful ocean views. Our base camp will be located near the sandy beach, which includes bathrooms, showers, a playground, and volleyball courts. Additionally, there's a Beach Resort within walking distance for guests to enjoy each day. We also have some special guests lined up for the event. We will be on either T-street, Beacon, Old Mans or Terra Mar.

SPECIAL GUESTS

We will have special guests from Bethel: surfer Chad Dedmon and founder of Catch the Wave surf ministry and his team!

EQUIPMENT

The ocean is usually warm enough to wear a bathing suit. However, we do recommend that you bring a wetsuit if you have one. We do have some wetsuits that you can use at no additional cost. We also highly recommend using under armor style compression shorts for the fellas, for both under the wet suit or under board shorts. It helps prevent chafing. If chafing occurs early in the week, it can negatively impact a camper’s experience. A heavier cloth pair of lycra-type underwear will prevent this. The use of a beginner surfboard is also included in the cost of the camp. Our surfboards are soft beginner boards that are great for learning. Please do not bring your own surfboard if you are a beginner. Hard surfboards are not good and/or safe for learning. If you are an intermediate or advanced surfer, you can bring your own surfboard.

CAMP PACKING LIST

Here is a list of things you will need to bring!

  • Tent

  • Sleeping bag

  • Pillow

  • Medications with instructions

  • Backpack

  • Water shoes

  • Swimsuit (Girls must wear a one-piece or tankini, or if they have a two-piece, they must wear a shirt or rash guard over it.)

  • Under-armor-styled compression shorts for fellas. For the guys, chafing is a common reaction to saltwater and friction of clothing. The same goes for under a fella’s board shorts (the term often referred to by surfers as their swimsuit). We recommend an under-armor-type protection layer under the board shorts also, even if they wear wet suits while in the water. They will eventually get out, shed the wet suits, and enjoy beach activities.
